Eligibility Criteria
General Requirements

Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens.

Applicants should abide by Chinese laws, regulations, and Tianjin University’s rules. They must be in good moral and physical health.

Applicants who were originally Chinese citizens but have obtained foreign citizenship must comply with the requirements of the Ministry of Education (Circular No. 12, 2020).
Educational Background and Age Requirements

Master's Degree Students: Must hold a bachelor’s degree and be under 35 years old.

Doctoral Degree Students: Must hold a master’s degree and be under 40 years old.
Language Requirements
Programs taught in Chinese:

HSK Level 5 with a score of 180 or above.
-
Applicants whose native language is Chinese or have completed their previous studies in Chinese are exempted from submitting HSK scores.
Programs taught in English:
-
IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL 80 and above.

Applicants from English-speaking countries or those who have completed their previous studies in English may provide an English Proficiency Certificate instead of IELTS or TOEFL scores.

Application Procedure

Register on the Tianjin University International Student Management System (https://tju.at0086.cn/student), complete the application form, and upload the required documents.

For students shortlisted for Tianjin University’s nomination list, log into the Chinese Government Scholarship website (http://www.csc.edu.cn/laihua) to complete the CSC application (Institution Code: 10056, Program Category: Type B).

Submit all required documents and await notification for interviews or written exams.

Initial recommendations will be submitted to the China Scholarship Council for final evaluation.

Passport Copy: Valid ordinary passport with an expiration date beyond September 2025.

Academic Certificates: Scanned copies of the original or notarized academic certificates from the undergraduate level onwards. Current students must submit a Pre-graduation Certificate and provide the final degree certificate upon admission.

Transcripts: Scanned copies of original or notarized academic transcripts for all courses taken from the undergraduate level onwards.

Language Proficiency Proof: Chinese or English proficiency certificates (HSK, IELTS, TOEFL, or equivalent).

Resume: A complete study history since high school using the provided template.

Acceptance Form from Tianjin University Professor (Optional): Signed by the professor (download template).

Study Plan: At least 1,000 words, written in Chinese or English, and signed by the prospective supervisor (if applicable).

Recommendation Letters: Two letters from associate professors or higher, written in Chinese or English.

Physical Examination Form: Completed by a qualified medical institution and dated after October 2024.

No Criminal Record Certificate: Issued within six months before application submission.

Academic Publications or Research Proof (Optional for Master’s, mandatory for Doctoral).

Other Attachments: CSC application form, portfolio (for architecture applicants), research achievements, etc.
Admission Process (Tentative)

Submission of Application Materials: Now until February 5, 2025.

Review and Interview: February 5 – March 31, 2025. Details of the interview will be notified via email. Failure to attend the interview will result in disqualification.

Final Review by CSC: June 1 – June 30, 2025.

Admission Results Announcement: July 1 – July 31, 2025. Admission letters and JW201 visa forms will be sent to admitted students.

Registration: Late August to early September 2025.
