Introduction to the Major

Anesthesiology is a field that trains medical professionals to perform anesthesia, emergency care, and resuscitation during surgeries. Training Objectives

This major aims to cultivate high-level specialized talents who meet the needs of social, economic, and healthcare development in China, with comprehensive development in moral, intellectual, physical, aesthetic, and labor aspects. 

Graduates should possess a certain foundation in humanities and natural sciences, solid basic theories, knowledge, and skills in Anesthesiology, noble ideological and professional ethics, medical humanities, initial competence in anesthesia positions, sustainable development potential, lifelong learning ability, and be able to engage in clinical anesthesia, teaching, and research work in hospitals, medical schools, and medical research institutions. 

They should be characterized by strong moral integrity, willingness to contribute, solid foundation, strong abilities, high quality, and innovative spirit and practical ability.

Graduation Requirements

Students in this major mainly study the basic theoretical knowledge of basic medicine, clinical medicine, and Anesthesiology, and the basic techniques of clinical medicine and Anesthesiology. 

They receive basic training in anesthesia, emergency rescue, and life resuscitation, and possess the basic abilities to handle anesthesia for common surgeries, prevent and treat perioperative complications, and monitor, judge, and treat critical illnesses. 

Graduates should meet the following knowledge, abilities, and quality requirements:

Knowledge Requirements

  1. Master the basic knowledge and scientific methods related to medicine, natural sciences, life sciences, behavioral sciences, and social sciences, and be able to use them to guide future learning and medical practice.
  2. Understand the normal structure and function of the human body at various stages of life, and the normal physiological state.
  3. Understand the causes of common and frequently occurring diseases at various stages of life, recognize the impact of environmental, social, and behavioral psychological factors on the formation and development of diseases, and understand the importance of disease prevention.
  4. Master the pathogenesis, clinical manifestations, diagnosis, and prevention principles of common and frequently occurring diseases at various stages of life, as well as the anesthesia handling of common surgeries, prevention and treatment of perioperative complications, and monitoring, judgment, and treatment of critical illnesses.
  5. Master basic pharmacological knowledge and principles of rational drug use in clinical anesthesia.
  6. Understand the basic knowledge of general medicine, principles of health education, disease prevention and screening, and knowledge related to alleviating and improving diseases and disabilities, rehabilitation, and end-of-life care.
  7. Understand the basic characteristics and diagnostic principles of traditional Chinese medicine.
  8. Master the relevant knowledge and methods of clinical epidemiology, be able to apply common scientific methods, propose corresponding scientific questions, and conduct exploration.

Ability Requirements

  1. Ability to comprehensively, systematically, and correctly collect medical history.
  2. Ability to conduct systematic and standardized physical and mental examinations, and write medical records in a standardized manner.
  3. Strong clinical thinking and expression abilities.
  4. Ability to diagnose and handle common and frequently occurring diseases in internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, and pediatrics.
  5. Ability to diagnose, provide emergency rescue, and handle general emergencies.
  6. Ability to choose appropriate clinical techniques based on specific situations, and select the most suitable and economical diagnostic and treatment methods.
  7. Preliminary ability to apply the principles of evidence-based medicine to verify and use evidence for clinical problems.
  8. Basic ability to engage in community health services.
  9. Good interpersonal communication and coordination abilities, and ability to effectively communicate with patients and their families.
  10. Ability to communicate with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
  11. Ability to search literature, query information, and use computers, and independently use library resources and modern information technology to acquire new knowledge and relevant information, and conduct medical scientific research, and read medical literature in a foreign language.
  12. Basic knowledge of preventive medicine, and ability to educate patients and the public about healthy lifestyles and disease prevention.
  13. Ability to learn independently and lifelong learning.
