Program Overview
In April 2018, the Ministry of Education issued the "Higher Education Artificial Intelligence Innovation Action Plan," which required universities to establish AI-related programs based on national and regional industry needs and to enhance talent cultivation in the AI field. The establishment of the Artificial Intelligence program at our university is in line with this national strategy. The program aims to cultivate students with a solid foundation in artificial intelligence knowledge, along with the ability to apply and develop intelligent systems, while also providing expertise in mathematics, computer software and hardware development, system operation, and maintenance. The goal is to train professional researchers and technical innovators capable of working in AI engineering applications, basic research, and development.
The educational positioning of this program follows engineering education standards, integrating the university's teaching, research, and the "Big Engineering Vision" approach, emphasizing innovative talent development principles. It aims to nurture AI professionals who can contribute to the intelligent development of the country and region.
Educational Objectives
This program is designed based on the national AI development strategy, with a focus on social and industry needs. It aims to cultivate students with a solid foundation in natural sciences, good humanistic and social science literacy, innovative spirit, and social responsibility. The program also aims to develop students' international vision, teamwork, communication skills, and entrepreneurial awareness, while mastering AI professional knowledge. Graduates will be prepared to engage in scientific research, technical development, engineering applications, and project management in the AI field.
Specifically, graduates of this program are expected to achieve the following objectives five years after graduation:
- Objective 1: Abide by the law, possess good professional ethics and work quality, with strong awareness of social and environmental issues, and be capable of serving society.
- Objective 2: Master essential AI knowledge, mathematical foundations, programming, and system operations, and become proficient in using related platforms and systems.
- Objective 3: Use mathematical knowledge to abstractly model AI-related problems, design algorithms for those models, and implement them with computer technology.
- Objective 4: Analyze, design, research, and solve engineering problems in AI, and adapt to both independent and team-based work environments.
- Objective 5: Possess a broad application vision, actively engage in interdisciplinary work that integrates AI with fields such as petroleum, materials, biology, and finance.
- Objective 6: Have good oral and written communication abilities, teamwork skills, and be able to contribute effectively to a team.
- Objective 7: Possess an international perspective and be capable of effective communication with colleagues, clients, and the public in diverse cultural settings.
- Objective 8: Continuously update and adjust core knowledge and abilities through learning or industry experience, adapting to technological progress and social development.

Graduates of this program are expected to meet the following graduation requirements:
- Apply mathematics, natural sciences, engineering foundations, and AI knowledge to solve complex engineering problems.
- Use the principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and AI to recognize, model, and analyze complex engineering problems, and reach valid conclusions through research.
- Design solutions for complex engineering problems in AI, develop AI systems that meet specific needs, and apply innovative thinking during the design process, considering societal, health, safety, legal, cultural, and environmental factors.
- Use AI principles and scientific methods to analyze, design, verify, implement, apply, and maintain complex AI systems.
- Choose and apply appropriate technologies, resources, modern engineering tools, and information technology tools for complex engineering problems, understanding their limitations.
- Evaluate the impact of AI-related engineering practices on society, health, safety, legal, and cultural aspects, and understand the responsibilities involved.
- Understand and evaluate the environmental and sustainable development impact of AI engineering practices.
- Demonstrate strong social responsibility and professionalism, understanding and adhering to ethical standards and norms in AI engineering practices.
