Program Introduction

The Communications and Transportation program is an interdisciplinary applied discipline aimed at training high-quality talents capable of solving various problems in transportation systems. This program mainly involves multiple modes of transportation such as road, rail, air, and water, covering aspects of transportation planning, design, management, and operation.

Training Objectives

To meet the demand for talents in the transportation industry in China, this program trains individuals to develop comprehensively in moral, intellectual, physical, aesthetic, and labor aspects, committed to the cause of socialist construction, possessing humanistic qualities, social responsibility, and professional ethics. 

Students will have innovative thinking, international vision, teamwork, communication, and practical abilities, mastering solid foundations in natural sciences and professional theories in transportation engineering. Graduates can work in fields such as transportation, automobile application, and logistics engineering, engaging in planning, design, technical development, organizational management, and research education. 

About five years after graduation, students can take on positions to solve technical problems related to transportation, becoming key technical or management personnel in their units.

Graduation Requirements

  1. Master basic knowledge of mathematics, physics, economic management, engineering fundamentals, and transportation specialty, and be able to apply their theories and methods to solve complex engineering problems in transportation systems regarding planning, organization, design, and management.
  2. Apply basic principles of mathematics, natural sciences, management sciences, and engineering sciences, master and use basic methods of literature retrieval and research, identify, express, and analyze complex engineering problems in the transportation field to obtain effective conclusions.
  3. Design solutions for complex engineering problems related to transportation, automobile application, and logistics engineering, design systems, organizations, and operational processes that meet specific needs, and demonstrate innovative thinking in the design process, considering social, economic, health, safety, legal, cultural, and environmental factors.
  4. Conduct research on complex engineering problems in the transportation field based on scientific principles and methods, including experimental or survey design, data collection and processing, modeling analysis and interpretation, and obtaining reasonable and effective conclusions through information synthesis.
  5. Develop, select, and use appropriate technologies, resources, modern engineering tools, and information technology tools to predict and simulate complex engineering problems in transportation systems, understanding their advantages and limitations.
  6. Understand the technical standard system, intellectual property, industrial policies, and laws and regulations related to transportation, conduct reasonable analysis based on the background knowledge of transportation engineering, evaluate the impact of transportation system engineering practices and solutions to complex engineering problems on society, health, safety, law, and culture, and understand the responsibilities to be undertaken.
  7. Understand the relevant requirements of national environmental protection and sustainable development, evaluate and understand the importance of practical solutions to complex transportation engineering problems on the environment and social sustainable development.
  8. Understand the national conditions of China, have correct values, possess humanistic qualities and social responsibility, understand and abide by engineering professional ethics and norms in transportation engineering practice, and fulfill responsibilities.
  9. Have a spirit of collaboration, able to take on roles as individuals, team members, and leaders in multidisciplinary teams related to transportation, automobile application, and logistics engineering.
  10. Understand the international research frontiers and trends in the transportation field, have the ability to communicate and exchange effectively with domestic and international peers and the public on complex engineering problems in this field, including writing reports in Chinese and English, designing documents, making presentations, clearly expressing or responding to instructions, and have international vision and cross-cultural communication and exchange abilities.
  11. Understand and master the theories and methods of management and economic decision-making in the transportation field, and apply them in multidisciplinary environments to solve transportation system problems in solution design.
  12. Recognize the necessity of autonomous and lifelong learning, have the awareness of autonomous learning and lifelong learning, and possess the ability to continuously learn and adapt to social development.
