Mode and Duration of Study

The program is delivered in a full-time format. The study duration is generally 2 to 3 years, with a maximum extension up to 4 years (including cases of academic leave due to entrepreneurship or other valid reasons). 

Students may apply for early or delayed graduation depending on academic progress and internship performance, in accordance with the academic policies of their host university.

Curriculum

Professional Practice

Students are required to complete at least 8 weeks of professional internship at an approved translation or interpreting institution. Upon completion, students must submit an internship evaluation and assessment provided by the organization. 

Internship tasks may include conference interpreting, foreign affairs support, document translation, etc., aiming to enhance practical skills and professional ethics.

Training Methods

• A credit-based and modular course system, combining required and elective courses
• Case-based teaching, simulated workplace training, and interpreter workshops
• Emphasis on translation practice and project-based training, requiring a minimum of 150,000 translated words or 400 hours of interpreting practice during the study period
• A dual-supervision mentorship system, including academic and professional mentors from both university faculty and industry experts
• Encouragement to participate in academic lectures, international forums, and volunteer services to expand global perspectives

Students may choose from the following primary research directions based on their academic interests:

• Advanced Interpreting

Degree Conferral

Students who fulfill all credit requirements, complete internship tasks, and successfully defend their master's thesis will be awarded the professional Master’s Degree in Translation and Interpreting upon approval by the university's academic degree committee.
