Introduction to the Filipino Major
The Filipino major trains students in language proficiency, culture, history, and international relations related to the Philippines. The program helps students achieve fluency in Filipino while equipping them with knowledge of Southeast Asia, preparing them for careers in diplomacy, media, business, and research. Graduates can work in international organizations, embassies, multinational corporations, or pursue further studies in regional research.
Training Objectives
Based on the comprehensive academic foundation of Peking University and the support of national key disciplines, this major aims to cultivate high-level professionals with proficiency in Filipino, cultural understanding, national research, and international affairs participation. Graduates can engage in diplomacy, media, national defense, state-owned and private enterprises, and academic research and teaching in Filipino language and culture.
Graduation Requirements
Students must master strong Filipino language skills, understand the culture, history, society, and economic-political development of the Philippines and Southeast Asia, and participate in internships and research projects to enhance intercultural communication and academic research abilities.
