Program Introduction

In recent years, financial management has become increasingly common in people's daily lives. Terms like savings, loans, financial management, bonds, funds, and stocks are familiar to most, but many may not fully understand the underlying principles. 

This major focuses on modern financial activities and financial innovation, applying mathematical analysis-centered modern financial theories, tools, technologies, and methods to creatively solve financial problems. It is a new emerging discipline in finance that is highly practical and technical.

Students in this program should master basic theories and knowledge in economics, finance, economic mathematics, and computer science, understand micro-finance principles and operations, and possess basic skills in banking, securities, insurance, investment, risk management, and related business areas. 

Training Objectives

This program aims to cultivate excellent financial engineering talents by carefully selecting textbooks and course content, striving for students to quickly acquire the most essential theoretical knowledge they will need, and then adopting a problem-oriented approach to efficiently develop students' ability to apply professional knowledge to solve practical problems.

Specifically, the program is designed to train high-end talents with the following qualities and skills: adaptable to the needs of socialist market economy construction, with a well-rounded development in moral, intellectual, physical, and aesthetic aspects, able to thrive in an open economic environment, with solid knowledge in economics, finance, computer technology, and good English proficiency. 

Graduates will systematically master the basic theories and methods of financial engineering, have good moral, professional, cultural, and physical qualities, possess strong practical innovation and application abilities, and be capable of working in cutting-edge areas such as digital currency, electronic payments, intelligent investment advisory, and big data finance.

Graduation Requirements

After completing the program, students will possess the following knowledge and abilities:

  1. A solid foundation in humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences, a high sense of social responsibility, good professional ethics, innovative spirit, competitive awareness, and practical ability.

  2. A solid grasp of the basic theories, knowledge, and skills in economics, finance, management, and accounting.

  3. Mastery of financial engineering theory and practice, and familiarity with the frontiers and trends of the field of financial engineering.

  4. A strong foundation in mathematics and econometrics, with the ability to apply both qualitative and quantitative analysis in scientific research, master basic mathematical modeling techniques, engineering methods, and empirical financial market analysis skills.

  5. Emphasis on interdisciplinary integration with information technology, management, engineering, and other fields, strong abilities in financial analysis, financial planning, financial data processing, financial innovation, and practical application.

  6. Mastery of methods and skills in corporate (personal) investment and financing, financial product design, financial engineering software applications, and personal financial management, with the ability to design, develop, and implement innovative financial tools, as well as a basic understanding of product pricing and risk management. Graduates will be able to creatively solve real-world financial problems using modern financial theories and financial engineering methods and techniques.

  7. Mastery of methods for searching economic and financial literature from both domestic and international sources, with a certain level of economic research ability, and the ability to use modern economic methods to conduct social surveys, statistical analysis, and management.

  8. Strong foreign language, computer, and information technology application abilities.

  9. Strong learning ability, writing ability, oral communication skills, interpersonal communication, and cross-cultural communication abilities.
