Program Introduction

The International Economic and Trade Rules program is an interdisciplinary field focused on international trade and economic regulations, combining economics, law, and international relations. With the acceleration of globalization, the importance of international economic and trade rules is growing. 

This program aims to cultivate students' ability to comprehensively understand and apply international trade regulations and policies.
Students will study topics such as the World Trade Organization (WTO), trade policies, international economic cooperation, and legal frameworks to meet the demands of economic and trade activities in the context of globalization.

Training Objectives

This program trains students who possess solid knowledge of Chinese law and professional legal abilities, as well as expertise in international civil and commercial law systems. Students will also deeply explore international economic and trade rules, develop a global perspective, and enhance cross-cultural communication skills. 

Graduates will be prepared to serve as judges, international arbitrators, and international lawyers who handle international trade disputes within the World Trade Organization (WTO), international investment disputes at the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), and cross-border intellectual property disputes within the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). Furthermore, they will be equipped to solve foreign-related legal issues in initiatives such as the “Belt and Road” initiative, domestic free trade zones, and free trade ports.

Graduation Requirements

In addition to meeting the basic legal knowledge requirements for an undergraduate law program, students in this program are expected to have a foundation in economics, trade, investment, and finance. They must possess high-level legal knowledge necessary for handling international economic and trade rules and dispute resolution. 

Students should also have a high level of proficiency in professional English, with strong skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing, enabling them to work in relevant fields in English. Furthermore, students should possess strong logical thinking, writing, business analysis, and cross-cultural communication abilities.
