Program Introduction

Study Mode and Duration

The program is delivered in full-time mode, with a standard duration of two years. Depending on individual progress, the period may be extended to a maximum of three years.

Curriculum

Practical Training

Students are required to complete no fewer than 400 hours of interpretation and translation practice, including 200 hours of on-campus/off-campus practical translation and 200 hours of simulated simultaneous interpreting. 

Practice formats include internships, project-based interpreting tasks, and university-organized simulation sessions. All components are subject to institutional review and approval.

Training Methods

• Credit system: Students must pass all required courses to earn the corresponding credits. Completion of the required credits is a prerequisite for thesis writing and graduation.
• Diverse teaching approaches: Interpreting courses incorporate classroom teaching, simulated scenarios, and project-based learning. Use of modern technologies (e.g., satellite TV, interpretation labs, multimedia classrooms) and involvement of experienced interpreters are emphasized.
• Practice-oriented: Emphasis is placed on case analysis and real-world interpreting scenarios throughout the entire training process.
• Supervision by academic teams: A mentoring group consisting of university professors and professional interpreters provides guidance, possibly implementing a dual-supervisor system.
• Collaborative teaching with Korean institutions: Courses and resources may be shared with Korean universities. Expert lectures and remote instruction may be offered by Chinese and Korean professionals.

Degree Conferment

Students who complete the required credits and pass the thesis defense, and who meet the criteria for master’s degree conferment, will be awarded the Master of Translation and Interpreting (MTI) degree upon review by the university’s Academic Degree Evaluation Committee.
