Introduction

Medical Imaging is a medical specialty that uses various imaging equipment (such as X-rays, CT, MRI, ultrasound, etc.) to create images of the internal structures of the human body, thereby assisting doctors in diagnosing diseases. It is an interdisciplinary field that integrates medicine, physics, computer science, and other disciplines.

Graduation Requirements

Students in this major mainly study the basic knowledge and theories of natural sciences, basic medicine, clinical medicine, and medical imaging. They receive basic training in clinical skills, medical imaging skills, communication skills, and master the preliminary abilities of medical imaging diagnosis, imaging operation, health education, self-learning, and lifelong learning. Graduates should acquire the following qualities, knowledge, and abilities.

Knowledge Requirements

  • Possess basic knowledge of natural sciences, humanities and social sciences, behavioral sciences, biomedical sciences, public health, clinical medicine, and master scientific methods, and be able to guide future learning and medical practice.
  • Master the normal structure, function, and psychological state of the human body at various stages of life.
  • Master the causes, mechanisms, clinical and pathological manifestations, and imaging manifestations of common diseases and frequently occurring diseases, and be familiar with prevention principles.
  • Master the principles of diagnosis and emergency treatment of common acute diseases.
  • Master the basic laws of occurrence, development, and transmission of infectious diseases and the principles of prevention of common infectious diseases.
  • Master the basic principles of imaging equipment and the uniqueness and complementarity of various imaging equipment in disease diagnosis (including conventional radiology, CT, MRI, DSA, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, etc.).
  • Master the basic knowledge of interventional radiology.
  • Master the basic laws and regulations of the medical industry, clarify their own business capabilities and authority, and pay attention to patient safety.

Ability Requirements

  • Have standardized medical imaging equipment operation skills and imaging report writing abilities.
  • Have the ability to conduct systematic and standardized physical and mental examinations.
  • Have good clinical thinking abilities, be able to make preliminary judgments on common diseases and frequently occurring diseases based on medical history and physical examination findings, and diagnose and differentiate through imaging manifestations.
  • Have the ability to safely perform various common clinical basic operations.
  • Have the ability to diagnose, provide emergency treatment, and handle common acute diseases.
  • Have the ability to obtain, screen, understand, and apply evidence from medical and scientific literature.
  • Have the ability to effectively communicate with colleagues, patients, and their families, mobilize their cooperation, and complete imaging examinations and diagnoses together.
  • Have the ability to apply medical and scientific knowledge to address individual, group, and health system problems, and provide health education and guidance on healthy lifestyles and disease prevention to patients and the public.
