Program Introduction

The Theory of Marxism program is a comprehensive study of the worldview, methodology, theory, practice, history, and reality of Marxism. 

This program primarily focuses on the three key components of the Marxist theory system and their inherent connections, studying the worldview foundations, methodological basis, essential characteristics, historical development, contemporary forms, and theoretical and practical values of Marxism, as well as the process of Marxism's sinicization and the sinicized Marxism. 

The discipline is an interdisciplinary, cross-cutting field involving philosophy, economics, political science, law, sociology, and other disciplines.

Training Objectives

1. Systematic mastery of Marxist theory knowledge: Familiarity with basic classical Marxist literature and the history of Marxism's development, mastery of Marxist basic theories, awareness of the cutting-edge trends in the development of Marxist theory, and the ability to use the basic stance, viewpoint, and methods of Marxism to understand and analyze issues.

2. Systematic mastery of the history of scientific socialism: Familiarity with the history of the international communist movement and the history of Marxism’s sinicization, a deep understanding of contemporary socialist theory and practice with Chinese characteristics, and firm belief in the "Four Confidences."

3. Broad knowledge of humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences: Learning about the history of world civilizations, history of thought in China and abroad, philosophy, logic, ethics, psychology, economics, sociology, management, basic natural sciences, and Chinese culture, possessing a broad disciplinary perspective, versatile knowledge structure, strong cross-disciplinary innovation awareness, and comprehensive innovation ability.

4. Possessing a broad international perspective and basic international communication skills: Proficiency in one or more foreign languages, with basic listening, speaking, reading, writing, and translation abilities, capable of writing abstracts in English, reading basic Marxist foreign-language literature, understanding basic knowledge of contemporary world economy, politics, and international relations, and familiar with basic norms of international academic exchange.

5. Possessing noble ideological and moral qualities: Establishing a grand ideal of communism and a common ideal of socialism with Chinese characteristics, deep patriotism, consciously practicing socialist core values, obeying laws and regulations, respecting teachers and education, maintaining public order, healthy body and sound personality, integrity, and positive social engagement.

6. Possessing strong scientific research and innovation abilities: Adhering to the principle of linking theory with practice, possessing a strong awareness of problems and theoretical innovation, strictly observing academic ethics, adhering to academic norms, having a spirit of seeking truth and exploration, and the ability to conduct independent research.
