Program Introduction

The Trade Economics major is a first-level discipline under the category of Economics. It primarily focuses on the study of economic laws in the field of commodity circulation, training high-quality interdisciplinary talents who have a solid foundation in economic theory and trade economics knowledge, with strong problem analysis and solving abilities, and the capability to independently conduct trade economics research, trade economic analysis, and trade practice.

Training Objectives

The goal of this program is to cultivate students with good moral qualities who are able to abide by professional ethics, laws, and regulations, understand the basic principles of Marxist economics and modern Western economics, and be familiar with the World Trade Organization (WTO) and trade regulations and business processes of different countries.

Students should be able to understand the operational mechanisms and development laws of contemporary international economics and trade, proficiently use an international language, and skillfully apply information communication technology in daily business and foreign-related economic work. The program also aims to develop broad knowledge in humanities and social sciences, good communication, adaptability, coordination, innovation, and entrepreneurship abilities. 

Graduates will be equipped to work in government agencies, enterprises, and public institutions engaged in management, business operations, research, and publicity planning. The training is designed to meet the needs of economic globalization, informatization, and modernization, producing talents with innovative thinking, practical ability, and a global perspective.

Graduation Requirements

Students in this program mainly study the basic theories and foundational knowledge of Political Economics, Western Economics, International Economics, Trade Economics, Industrial Economics, International Trade, Modern Logistics, and Online Trade. 

They receive basic training in economics and management, with an emphasis on the integration of trade theory and practice. The program also requires a high level of business English proficiency, strong theoretical analysis abilities, and trade practice operational skills. Graduates should acquire knowledge and abilities in the following areas:

  • Master the Marxist theory, Mao Zedong thought, and the theoretical system of socialism with Chinese characteristics, possess good moral character, a strong sense of social responsibility, and a broad vision.

  • Master the fundamental theories and methods of Western Economics, Trade Economics, Industrial Economics, and International Trade.

  • Apply statistical methods, econometrics, and management techniques to qualitatively and quantitatively analyze trade economics problems.

  • Proficiently use tools such as English and computers for conducting internal and external trade business and management tasks, with strong trade practice operational skills.

  • Understand domestic and international trade economics policies and regulations, the latest theories, and developments in the field.

  • Have a sound mind and a healthy body.
